“Athos is the motherland of orthodox monasticism in the world!”

In this third part of his interview to Pemptousia, Archimandrite Damascene, abbot of St Herman of Alaska Monastery in Platina, California, talks about his pilgrimages to Mount Athos. He also reflects on encountering such sincere veneration of Hieromonk Seraphim (Rose) by the monks of the Holy Mountain, especially meaningful as monasticism in America is so young by comparison.

Known Tech Issue on Indiegogo Site

Video not appearing on Indiegogo — All other functions are unaffected and operating fine.

This morning, when working on updates on our Indiegogo crowdfunding site, I discovered that our video, the lead introductory component for the crowdfunding page, was not showing.

This is likely due to some unexpected maintenance at Indiegogo, but I wanted to post about it so any visitors and supporters would not be concerned. I have submitted a service ticket with the Indiegogo Support Team, and expect a quick solution.

In the meantime, you can view the video immediately below, on our Video page, or on YouTube. It is also able to be viewed in our “Gallery” tab on the Indiegogo site.

As always, thank you for your interest in the North American Thebaid Project. We appreciate your prayers and support!

For some time I have been collecting videos on Orthodox Christian monasticism in North America and from around the world. I’ve created a couple of special YouTube playlists to share these glimpses into the monastic way, and have set them up on a special Video page.

Also included is the promo video for the North American Thebaid Photographic Pilgrimage Project, which will be widely distributed when we (soon!) launch the crowdfunding campaign to raise funds for the initial travel and photography to begin.

Be sure to sign up for email updates, and watch for a special page on Podcasts and Audio features on monasticism coming soon, and a list of suggested books.
